About the instructor, Paola Pafumi:

A native of Italy, Paola Pafumi studied ceramics in the ASUC studio at UC Berkeley, exploring a wide variety of techniques. Her speciality is maiolica (tin-glazed, painted Italian pottery), which she learned by studying under masters of the art form in Faenza and Florence, Italy.

Maiolica is an Italian glazing technique dating from the Renaissance. Its beautiful designs have roots in the Middle East and make for stunning pottery. This complex technique has been adapted by our expert instructor Paola Pafumi so that beginning students can participate and enjoy.
