Join artist Weston Teruya and make paper cutouts based on objects, artifacts, and locations on Montalvo’s grounds. The cutouts will be exhibited in the Project Space Gallery as part of Teruya’s paper sculpture installation for the exhibition Possibilities of Paper: Select Works by Lucas Artists Fellows (2005-15). Wear comfy shoes, as some walking required.
This is a free workshop!
Inspire the paper cutouts
Over the course of the exhibition Possibilities of Paper, Teruya will be creating an evolving 3D map of Montalvo from paper. We are seeking suggestions for elements, objects, and locations that you think should be featured. If you have any ideas, please share them with us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram @montalvoarts and tag #MontalvoPaper (or email ideas to Donna Conwell at firstname.lastname@example.org).
Possibilities of Paper is organized in association with a year-long anniversary celebration of Montalvo’s Residency Program. In 2015, we commemorate the 10-year jubilee of the Sally and Don Lucas Artists Residency Program, as well as the founding of the third oldest artists’ residency in the US at Montalvo 75 years ago. Visit montalvoarts.org for details on upcoming anniversary events.
