Exploring the sculptural fiber art techniques of Bay Area artist Corinne Takara. Playfully incorporating recycled materials such as plastic sushi grass, local ethnic food wrappers and produce netting, your child will make colorful handmade papers for a variety of 3D and 2D projects. Participants will use wire and recycled packaging as supports for their paper creations of insects, flowers and cast wall hangings. Each student will also learn to make vibrant prints using collograph printmaking techniques. Takara will share the inspiration of her Japanese-Hawaiian plantation roots and will encourage the students to exlore their own visual vocabularies through the discards of their daily lives.
Most suitable for ages 7 through 11.
