VENUE: Carriage House Theatre
Montalvo Arts Center, in partnership with the Commonwealth Club of San Jose, presents Anna Lappé, founding principal of the Small Planet Institute and author of Diet for a Hot Planet: The Climate Crisis at the End of Your Fork and What You Can Do About It. Nearly 40 years ago, Lappé's mother Frances Moore Lappé sparked a revolution in how we think about hunger and the social and environmental impacts of our food choices. Now, Anna exposes yet another hidden cost of our food system: global warming.
The connection between food production and climate change is startling with as much as one third of total greenhouse emissions related to food. From how we farm to what we eat to how our food gets to the table, Lappé offers her vision of a food system that does more good than harm. She outlines the seven principles for a climate-friendly diet and calls for a system-wide reform of the foods we eat and of its production.
Reception begins at 6:15. Book signing after the program.
