THURSDAY, SEPT 26
Highlights include Millennium Park with its stunning outdoor art and architecture, including Frank Gehry’s concert pavilion and great lawn, the Crown Fountain, and Anish Kapoor’s amazing Cloud Gate, affectionately called “the Bean”. After a private tour of the Art Institute of Chicago, we will dine at Terzo Piano, which sits high atop the Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago prepared by James Beard award winning chef/partner Tony Mantuano.
FRIDAY, SEPT 27
The morning will be dedicated to artists’ studio visits then Chicago’s most innovative Art Laboratories. We will also explore the neighborhoods of Hyde Park and nearby Kenwood, the University of Chicago campus, and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House. This will be followed by dinner at the private Union League of Chicago, which is also home to one of the most important art collections of American art in the Midwest. Theatrical production to follow, show TBD.
SATURDAY, SEPT 28
We will visit private art collections this morning then will head over to the Chicago Architecture Biennial at the Chicago Cultural Center. Dinner will be at The Signature Room at the 95th, which sits high atop the John Hancock building with impressive 360 degree views of Chicago!
SUNDAY, SEPT 29
Highlights include homes and buildings of Frank Lloyd Wright and Ernest Hemingway. Lunch will be at the award-winning Marisol, the Museum of Contemporary Art’s new Michelin “Bib Gourmand” café. We will then explore the Museum of Contemporary Art.
MONDAY, SEPT 30
Departure day – transfers to Chicago O’Hare airport for departing flight/return point of origin.
