Montalvo presents the next generation of Kathak artists with “An Evening of Kathak” featuring the Chhandam Youth Dance Company. The Saturday performance will be preceded by a panel discussion with Youth Company members. This performance featuring exceptional traditional Kathak solos by the up and coming members of the Chhandam Youth Dance Company (CYDC) is part of internationally renowned Kathak master Pandit Chitresh Das’s residency at Montalvo Arts Center for 2009. CYDC will be accompanied by Pandit Das on tabla (North Indian percussion), on Sitar by Jayanta Banerjee of Kolkata, India and CYDC Director, Charlotte Moraga on recitation, Antara Bhardwaj on vocals and Rachna Nivas on Harmonium.
