Elvin Bishop is perhaps best known for his biggest single hit to date, "Fooled Around and Fell in Love." Earlier in his career, he was founding member of the legendary Paul Butterfield Blues Band. During the 1980's, Elvin spent most of his time on the road, "entertaining the people and maybe having a little too much fun myself." Later in the decade he hooked up with Alligator for a number of excellent albums that grew right out of his blues roots.
Elvin’s 2008 release The Blues Rolls On on Delta Groove Music, harkened back to Bishop's roots, paying tribute to the musicians who helped give him his start. It was nominated for a Grammy award. His brand new release, Red Dog Speaks, is an exciting new step in his blues journey.
J.C. Smith's 2009 release, Defining Cool, was listed for the 52nd Grammy Awards for "Best Contemporary Blues CD." Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, he was the 2006 Bay Area Blues Society West Coast Blues Band of the Year award winner.
