Presented by Dancing Sun Foundation with Scarecrow Contemporary Dance Company of Taiwan
Taiwanese choreographers and performers Bih-tau Sung (Dancing Sun Foundation), Wen-jinn Luo, and Han-chieh Tso (Scarecrow Contemporary Dance Company) present an evening of modern and traditional Chinese dance. Fall in Love with Formosa features three works that are based on or inspired by historical events and literary texts. Using a dance form that utilizes the physical laws of friction, momentum, gravity, and inertia, the participating dancers explore human relations and experience through their interactions with one another.
Bih-tau Sung is an acclaimed interpreter and choreographer of ballet, modern, and traditional Chinese dance and opera techniques. Her professional career started in 1974 when she was recruited to join the prestigious Cloud Gate Dance Theater, Taiwan’s first professional modern dance company. In addition to receiving her MA in Dance from San Jose State University, she is also a Laban Movement Analyst, and has taught private and college level classes. In 1999, Sung founded the Dancing Sun Foundation where she is the artistic director. In 2011, she re-located back to Taiwan.
