This multi-gold Grammy-nominated group celebrates 30 years of a remarkable recording career this year with their “Legacy” tour.
Formed by Dan Kuramoto and June Kuramoto (the only Japan native in the band, and one of the world's leading koto players), Hiroshima became a thriving and pioneering instrumental ensemble with the addition of master taiko drummer Johnny Mori and drummer/percussionist Danny Yamamoto. In a career spanning more than two decades, Hiroshima has performed for hundreds of thousands, while their extensive catalog of albums have sold over 3 million copies worldwide.
Since Hiroshima’s inception in 1980, the group has assumed the artistic mission of bridging cultural divides through the power of music. Hiroshima has borrowed from numerous cultures – Asian, Latin American, African American and more – and merged these influences into a unique an innovative whole that is solely their own. The result is a brand of music that speaks to nearly every aspect of contemporary culture. As the only Asian American band to attempt to fuse Eastern and Western music, they have created a singular niche, one in which they only occupy.
