"Connoisseurs of domestic suspense will finish this book in a few breathless sittings, then wait eagerly for Ellison's next trick." — Kirkus Reviews

Montalvo's new literary series continues in 2015 with a delicious luncheon featuring writer Jan Ellison. After lunch and glass of wine, Ellison and fellow author Katherine Maxfield will discuss Ellison's remarkable debut novel, A Small Indiscretion, the author’s inspiration and writing process. Books will be available for purchase.

ABOUT A SMALL INDISCRETION: Annie Black is a mother of three with a devoted husband and a successful career as a lighting designer. One June morning, a photograph arrives in her mailbox, awakening an old longing and sending her on a journey that threatens to shatter her family’s hard-won happiness. Deeply moving and impossible to put down, A Small Indiscretion is a riveting treatment of one woman’s search for understanding and forgiveness, as well as a taut exploration of modern marriage and love—the kind that destroys and the kind that redeems.

Jan Ellison is a graduate of Stanford and San Francisco State University’s MFA Program. Her short fiction has received multiple awards and honors, including the 2007 O. Henry Prize, and has been short-listed for The Best American Short Stories and the Pushcart Prize. Ellison lives in Portola Valley with her husband and their four children. A Small Indiscretion is her first novel.
