In celebration of his West Coast Premier, join Bruce Munro and Kelly Sicat, Director of the Lucas Artists Program, as they discuss the inspiration behind the artist’s most ambitious exhibition to date: Bruce Munro at Montalvo: Stories in Light. Munro will share his passion for light as a medium, and how he considers immersive large-scale light-based installations as a means to create a shared human experience. Munro will also discuss his love of the Narnia series by CS Lewis, and describe how Villa Montalvo embodies the imaginings of his childhood, which became the departure for this exhibition. Sicat and Munro will discuss works new, old and those yet to be conceived, as they explore the artists process of gathering, in his notebooks, responses to stimuli such as music, literature, science, and the world around him for reference, reflection, and subject matter of his work.
