VENUE: Saratoga Library
Join us at the Saratoga Library as panelists discuss their experiences in responding to the conflict in Iraq and the Mutanabbi Street bombing through creative practices, including printmaking and poetry. Panelists include poet Zaid Saleh, Saratoga High School representative Arjun Shenoy, Mutanabbi Street Broadsides organizer Kathleen Walkup, and Mutanabbi Street Coalition founder Beau Beausoleil, as well as Combat Paper organizers Drew Mattot and Phil Aliff.
Saratoga High School Creative Writing Program
Paralleling the broadsides exhibit, Montalvo partners with Saratoga High School’s creative writing program to explore Baghdad’s 2007 Mutanabbi Street bombing through poetry and art. After months of research and participation in Montalvo's IRAQ:REFRAME programs, Saratoga High's creative writing students present poetry in response to the Mutanabbi Street bombing. These poems will be displayed in the Saratoga Library student study room concurrently with the Mutanabbi Street exhibit.
Saratoga High School creative writing students will present their poetry throughout the program.
