VENUE: Downtown San Jose
RELATED EXHIBITION: Rolling Counterpoint
Join artist Taro Hattori at the South First Fridays art walk in Downtown San Jose!
With the hope of responding to a fraught election cycle and a new administration, Hattori invites participants to join an ongoing conversation centered around two questions: “What divides us?” and “What does it mean to belong?” Rolling Counterpoint encourages individuals to add their voices to a growing collection of perspectives gathered from across many different communities. At this event you will be invited to make your voice heard and also to consider how responses and stories gathered from your community could inform creative problem solving and help model new ways of engaging one other in productive dialogue. Participatory art making activities will include silk-screening and other print making projects. Visual artist and vocalist Marissa Katarina Bergmann will perform an improvised song based on language gathered from the ongoing conversations.
This free event is organized in association with MACLA / Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana.
