Rolling Counterpoint will join San Jose's 37th Annual Day of Remembrance sponsored by the Nihonmachi Outreach Committee, commemorating the 75th anniversary of Executive Order 9066, issued on February 19th, 1942, that led to the incarceration of 120,000 Japanese Americans in concentration camps during World War II. The Annual Day of Remembrance will feature a candlelight procession through San Jose's Japantown, and performances by ASWAT Bay Area Arabic Music Ensemble and San Jose Taiko. Artist Taro Hattori will bring Rolling Counterpoint to San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin and transform it into an illuminated light-filled lantern featuring videos documenting South Bay residents’ stories about belonging and division.
