Last August, Montalvo presented O OAKS OH! A Day of Gathering/Public Learn In, which brought together scholars, spiritual leaders, experts and leaders to share their learning on both the perils of Sudden Oak Death and the ancient spiritual majesty of the oak.
Mierle Laderman Ukeles, the artist behind O OAKS OH!, will premiere the screening of her film on this project and also participate in a discussion with Andy Fedak addressing Sudden Oak Death (SOD) syndrome, which is plaguing Montalvo's public park as well as coastline forests. The artist will be present for Q&A after the screening.
Ukeles is a sculptor, public and performance artist, Percent-for-Art-Artist of Fresh Kills Park (formerly the largest landfill in the world), and senior critic in sculpture at Yale University (2007-2008).
