VENUE: Art Museum of Los Gatos

Montalvo and the Museums of Los Gatos have partnered to present Inside and Outside: The Work of Claudia Borgna. The two-part exhibition will be on view at both the Museums and at Montalvo and includes Plastic Bags and Ephemeral Dreams and Mighty Like a Flower.

With cases of recycled plastic bags in tow, Borgna has lead a semi-nomadic life traveling the world and examining the relationship between nature and the manmade world through her work. Her site-specific installations explore how the "plastic" and the natural realms interact with one another and create new ephemeral orders. As part of Traces, Twigs and Time, Borgna will be in residence at the Lucas Artists Residency Program and will respond to Montalvo's grounds by creating an installation using thousands of plastic bags in what she refers to as the "evolution of landscape."

Borgna has exhibited throughout Europe, Mexico, and the USA. She is the recipient of grants from both the Joan Mitchell and the Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner Foundations and was awarded the Royal British Society of Sculptors Bursary Award as well as the Pritzker Foundation Endowed Fellowship Award.
