Dave Mason

Can you believe we've added another huge name to our 2017-2018 Carriage House Concert season? Well, believe it: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Dave Mason will perform two nights -- Wednesday, May 23 and Thursday, May 24.

One of the founders of the legendary band Traffic, Mason’s illustrious career includes penning one of the most enduring rock anthems of all time -- “Feelin’ Alright” -- and playing guitar on some of rock’s greatest tracks, including Jimi Hendrix’s “Electric Ladyland.” Today, his talent remains as impressive as his legacy. This show, The Best of Dave Mason, will cover all of his best known and most beloved tunes.

For these shows, we are also offering special VIP Experience packages, where you can enjoy a meet & greet with Mason, attend sound check, and receive commemorative merchandise.

Tickets to these concerts are currently only being offered to Montalvo donors, and they're moving quickly! Tickets won't be on sale to the public until Monday, December 11 at 10am
. So if you're not a member, join us today by clicking the button below or by calling 408-961-5809 during business hours. When you sign up, we will give you an exclusive presale password so you can get the seats you want before they're gone!

Donation Drives to Help the Community

Holiday Drives at Montalvo

This holiday season, Montalvo is participating in two important donation drives for local organizations that help people in need. Collection bins are located in the Box Office (open from 10am-4pm, Monday-Friday, and on any concert night) through December 14. If you are able, we hope you will join us in helping these worth causes. Simply stop in and drop off your items in the appropriate barrel!

Second Harvest Food Bank
Visitors are asked to drop off non-perishable food items (cans, packaged goods) in the bin. For a list of the organization's most needed foods, click here. Second Harvest recently sent nearly 3,300 meals to residents affected by the fires in Napa and Sonoma counties, and they are particularly in need of donations during the winter months.

Toys For Tots
Help give families a chance to have the full holiday experience by giving new, unwrapped toys for children of any age. As of 2016, the Toys for Tots Program and Foundation has collected and distributed more than 512 million toys to children in need.

We're Moving the Conversation December 9

Getting Physical

Join director/educator and former Lucas Artist Fellow Simón Adinia Hanukai on Saturday, December 9 from 10am-2pm for our next Open Access: Getting Physical -- an investigation into divisiveness and discord in our current political and cultural scene, and the role that artists and arts organizations can play in bridging these divides.

This interactive workshop will move away from a stagnant, mind-focused approach to a more active, full-body way of engaging with the material. Together with other participants, you will utilize exercises stemming from and inspired by Theatre of the Oppressed, Viewpoints, physical theatre, and participatory facilitation to tackle timely themes. You will also have opportunities to tap into your imagination to access a new perspective, and to brainstorm solutions and next steps. A light ;lunch will be provided.

Network Over Food: ArtistConnect Dec. 4

ArtistConnect: Recipe Share and Storytelling

'Tis the season for holiday culinary traditions -- so join us for an evening of networking and recipe sharing at our next ArtistConnect on Monday, December 4 from 4-6pm in the intimate historic Villa.

With conversations centering around food, this month's gathering will explore how the things we eat can foster deep connections with history, culture, community, and the environment -- and how sharing a meal together creates an accessible opportunity for storytelling and the exploration of self identity.

Please bring a recipe and/or food-related story to tell the group. All are welcome! Invite a friend, colleague, or anyone else interested in the field of education who would like to join the discussion and connect with peers

Don Lucas Fund Will Replace Our Aging Fleet

Montalvo's Old Truck

We are pleased to announce that in honor of longtime Montalvo donor Don Lucas, who recently passed away, we have established a special fund to purchase and name several new work vehicles for our facilities team to use on and off the grounds.

Lucas rose to prominence in the Bay Area through his car dealership businesses before becoming an important philanthropist with gifts to numerous organizations including San Jose State University. This "Truck Fund" is a small way for us to honor his memory and impact on Montalvo. Funds would go toward purchasing a new truck to replace our 1998 Ford pickup (pictured above), which is currently in poor condition -- as well as new golf carts to allow our staff to move around the grounds more efficiently.

If you are interested in making a contribution to either the Truck Fund or to the Sally and Don Lucas Endowment Fund, c
