New exhbition In and Out of Place opens October 26

Final Friday: artist talk at 6pm

Constellations of Experience
Ruth Boerefijn: Constellations of Experience (2012)

The final exhibition of our Centennial year, In and Out of Place, opens Friday, October 26. Join us for a special Final Fridays and gallery opening with featured artists Ruth Boerefijn and Bia Gayotto, or visit the Project Space Gallery through January 13 to view the exhibition.

For Final Fridays, join us at 6pm in the historic Villa, where the artists will discuss their creative process and the inspirations behind their work. The gallery reception follows with the opportunity to meet the artists and enjoy a glass of wine. The evening is FREE!

In and Out of Place explores the relationships between people, place, and stories, creating a multilayered portrait of the Silicon Valley. Boerefijn's site-specific work Communicated Experience uses a variety of materials to explore the personal stories of three pioneering San Jose women. Gayotto's Somewhere in Between: Silicon Valley is a video work focusing on experiences of bicultural people living in the area. Both artists examine how stories give form to the cultural landscape, while also revealing our sense of place in the world.
