Empire State of Mind:
An ArtVenture to New York

ArtVenture to New York

This last weekend, a group of intrepid Montalvo donors joined us for a whirlwind Artventure to the Hudson Valley and Manhattan. It was a jam-packed few days that featured a series of simply unbelievable arts experiences.

Our upstate adventures included a trip to Storm King Arts Center (where we chatted with President John Stern); Dia:Beacon museum of modern and contemporary art; and Kykuit, the historic Rockefeller estate, where we walked through the family's incredible private art collection. Plus, we made a special visit to the Union Church of Pocantico Hills to see the stained glass windows by Marc Chagall and Henri Matisse--the last work of art Matisse ever made in his lifetime.

In Manhattan, we spent time in the home of a private collector, artists studios, and galleries. We strolled the High Line and enjoyed a special preview of the MoMA Louise Bourgeois exhibition. We marveled at the electrifying CHIHULY Nights installation at the New York Botanical Garden, and took in a performance of the award-winning musical Come From Away.

Invitations to ArtVentures are one of the exclusive benefits of Montalvo membership. If you'd like more information about how YOU can join in a future ArtVenture, contact our Development Director Emma Moon at emoon@montalvoarts.org

Catch the Fun with Louis Prima, Jr.

Louis Prima, Jr. & The Witnesses

Break out your dancing shoes and get ready for a great night as we host the "new crown prince of swing," Louis Prima, Jr. & The Witnesses on Thursday, October 26 at 7:30pm in our intimate Carriage House Theatre.

Prima's father, Louis Prima, Sr., was known for his swinging, chart-topping tunes back in the 1930s, '40s, and '50s. His son has taken up that same mantle -- performing his dad's hits as well as his own upbeat originals with a modern style filled with so much energy that won't be able to help but get out of your seat and dance in the aisles!
