The Exquisite Table: Learn how to make traditional Mexican pottery! Join Herlinda Morales, a master artisan who creates intricate glazed ceramics with her family in the small village of Santa Fe de La Laguna, Lake Patzcuaro, Michoacan. You will make your own tableware, incorporating Herlindas signature design, the "whimsical butterfly." This workshop is open to all ages and levels of experience. Registration: $40; Members: $30.
At 5pm, join us in the Carriage House Theatre for a FREE screening of the award-winning documentary Tierra Brilliante (Brilliant Soil). The film explores the public health and environmental risks associated with the production and use of Mexican lead-glazed tableware. A Q&A follows.
A shocking amount of food in the U.S. is discarded each year. Explore what we do with foods deemed imperfect at a special dinner in the historic Villa. How can creative hands repurpose that which would otherwise be wasted? Can our expectations change in order to make the most of what we have?
