COME HEALING:
Join us Friday as we kick off
our 2013 Art on the Grounds exhibition in style!

Looking for something fun to do on Friday? Look no further than Final Fridays, our FREE monthly celebration of the artists in our Lucas Artists Residency Program and the inspired work they are creating.

This Friday, May 31, at 6pm, we kick off our 2013 Art on the Grounds exhibition, COME HEALING, with the opening of a new work, a food truck, music, and more! It's an evening not to be missed.

Here's the schedule:

6 - 7pm: Join us on the West Lawn (next to the Villa) to view Alfredo & Isabel Aquilizan's Dwellings: Project Another Country (Saratoga Hills). Participants in the project will be given gifts as a thank you for their work, and guests will have a chance to add to the evolving sculpture.

The Link Squad food truck will be on hand selling gourmet sausages and hot dogs, and beer & wine will be available for purchase. So come hungry, and bring a blanket to sit on for a picnic on the lawn!

7:15 - 8:15pm: Proceed to the Carriage House Theatre, where composer Andrea Clearfield will discuss her recent work documenting indigenous melodies in the remote Himalayan region of Lo Monthang, Nepal, which is one of the last remaining enclaves of traditional Tibetan culture. Andrea will also play some compositions inspired by her fascinating field work.

8:15 - 9pm: The evening will culminate with a final viewing of the Happiness is… exhibition in the Project Space Gallery. Join artist Susan O’Malley as she leads visitors on a nighttime walk around the property.

Don't miss this fun-filled gathering of community, art, food, and inspiration: the perfect way to spend a Friday evening!

Mapping Biointimacy:
Workshops seek to connect with the natural world
Manzanita

How does the health of our environment influence our personal wellbeing? How can we reconnect with the natural world upon which we depend?

With their new exploratory work Mapping Biointimacy, artist duo Owen Driggs explore these subjects as they invite visitors to learn about the historical, medicinal, culinary, and cultural significance of Montalvo's native flora and fauna.

Join the artists in four Saturday workshops in June, each from 10am-12pm, and be a part of this new piece:

The project will also include a mobile phone app and guided walk which will premiere on Friday, August 30. Be sure to keep checking montalvoarts.org and our Facebook page for updates on this fascinating, evolving work.
