Your students can experience the energy of live dance, drama, music, and more in our intimate 300-seat Carriage House Theatre. Featuring 10 performances by world-class artists, these shows are a perfect launching point for your classroom curriculum. Tickets are just $7 each, and all performances offer both a 9:30am and 11:30am option.

  • Monday, October 23 (Grades K-5): Carnival of the Animals
The classic fables of “The Three Little Pigs,” “The Tortoise and the Hare,” and “The Ugly Duckling” are interwoven against a fanciful score written in 1886 by French composer Camille Saint-Saen. Presented by the Fratello Marionettes.

  • Tuesday, November 7 (Grades K-5): Coyotes and Rabbits

  • Tuesday, January 30 (Grades K-5): Alphabet Rockers
Learning comes alive through the beats, rhymes, moves, and community of hip hop. This is an intergenerational dance party where infectious grooving is accompanied by thoughtful lyrics about cultural topics that help to meet curriculum goals.

  • Friday, February 2 (Grades 3-6): Big Drum/Small World
This multimedia program presented by JazzReach features performances by internationally-recognized composers and shows the unique way that jazz provides a forum to explore our differences, share ideas, and discover common ground.

  • Friday, March 16 (Grades 2-6): Daughters of Hypatia: Circles of Mathematical Women
Dancers recount intriguing stories from great mathematical women throughout history using circular motifs, colorful projections of video mosaics, complex clapping games, surprising audience interactions, and more. Presented by Karl Schaffer.

  • Tuesday, March 20 (Grades K-6): Searching for Spring: A Girl's Journey to Norouz
Come on a musical journey that traces the history of the Persian New Year from its beginnings over 2,500 years ago in present-day Iran before finally making its way to faraway lands in modern times. This special performance is a Montalvo commission by Saideh Eftekhari and takes place on Norouz!

  • Monday, April 2 (Grades K-6): Waters of the Earth: Multicultural Tales of the Sea
Explore the rich folklore and mythology of seafaring peoples from all over the globe through four stories from Boxtales Theatre Company: learn about the selkies of Ireland, go adventuring with Sinbad the Sailor, and learn some sea chanteys along the way.

  • Monday, April 30 (Grades 3-6): The Red Altar Project: Stories of Immigration, Migrations, and Journeys
In 1850, six teenagers crossed the ocean from China, crashed in the Carmel Bay, and began the fishing industry in the Monterey area all in the face of violent anti-Chinese sentiment. Seven generations later, their story of hope and overcoming obstacles is finally being told. Presented by Eth-Noh-Tec.

  • Thursday, May 10 (Grades K-5): Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site
As the sun sets behind the big construction site, all the hardworking trucks get ready to say goodnight. But preparing for bed is a job in itself! Will they ever get some shut-eye? This charming musical presented by Bay Area Children's Theatre is based upon the best-selling book of the same name.

National Wine Day!

Did you know that today (May 25) is National Wine Day? Although Montalvo isn't a winery, we still have two great ways to celebrate the occasion: while you're pouring your loved one a glass, let them know you've reserved seats at our elegant Farm to Fork dinner or bought them a ticket to our fabulous Food & Wine Classic!

Benefiting Montalvo's arts and education programs, Farm to Fork (Tuesday, June 6 at 6pm) will be an unforgettable culinary experience: the event will begin with a sumptuous cocktail reception, followed by a three-course dinner which will be paired with fine wine selections from Domaine Eden and Mount Eden Vineyards. And as the Official Sponsor, Ermenegildo Zegna will offer attendees outfit curation services for the entire summer.

Find That Painting You've Been Looking For
at Los Gatos Plein Air June 16-17

Los Gatos Plein Air 2017

This June, 34 nationally renowned artists will paint outdoors for four days in and around Los Gatos as part of a fundraiser that supports several Santa Clara County non-profits (including Montalvo). These painting activities will culminate on Saturday, June 17 from 11am-5pm with a fine art exhibition, sale, and festival in downtown Los Gatos.

Los Gatos Plein Air brings nationally-recognized artists to Los Gatos to paint en plein air, a 19th century style of painting "in the open air" on location. Los Gatos Plein Air has become a much-anticipated community-wide event -- and remains the only major Plein Air event in the South Bay.

Proceeds from the auction and the sale of artwork go to support programs for local youth by organizations including Montalvo, New Museum Los Gatos, Art Docents of Los Gatos, Los Gatos Music & Arts, and Lighting for Literacy. It's a great cause, so come out and support the arts and your community!

More information about the event and tickets to the VIP Artists Reception & Silent Auction on June 16 are available through the link below.
