Toast the residency!
Open Access March 27

Open Access

Join us on Friday, March 27, from 6-9pm in the Lucas Artists Residency Commons and on Montalvo's grounds as we honor the scores of artists who have lived on our beautiful property over the years while creating, connecting, and dreaming.

Our newly-launched series Open Access gives visitors a glimpse inside the residency each month through a series of fun and engaging events that will educate and inspire—and this month's theme is A Toast to the Residency!

So, raise a glass to artists past, see what some of our fellows are doing today, and get a glimpse of works coming in the future! You'll see the painting studios of Nicole Schmölzer and Philip Portughese; get a tour of the new exhibition in the Project Space Gallery, and take a walk to the beautiful Italianate Garden for an early look at an upcoming permanent work by Christopher Loomis: a seating element being carved out of eucalyptus from Montalvo’s property.

This event is presented as part of our 75/10 anniversary, celebrating the inauguration of an artists residency at Montalvo 75 years ago and the 10-year jubilee of the Sally and Don Lucas Artists Program.

Beer, wine, and food will be available for purchase. Tickets are just $10*, so come, meet the artists and mingle with new friends—be sure to invite others to join you via Facebook! To purchase, click below or call the Box Office at 408-961-5858 10am-4pm Monday-Friday.

Summer Camps:
Creativity, color,
nature, and technology

Natural Dyes and Textiles

Spring is already here, which means summer is right around the corner. So plan ahead and sign your kids up today for one of our unique and creative Summer Camps before it's too late!

Our first camp sessions begin June 8:

• Natural Dyes and Textiles—students will extract color from flowers, and will hand-dye and paint fabrics and fibers using plants gathered from Montalvo’s grounds.

• Video Art: Visual Haiku—individual and group projects will allow kids to express themselves through short video montages they frame, shoot, and edit themselves!

• What Makes A Tree—campers will learn about how plants and trees grow by building a working mechanical "tree" of their own.

...and there are lots more to choose from throughout the summer! Click below to find the camp your child was meant for.
