GET READY: You're invited to engage with 35 international artists on Friday, July 22, from 5-10pm, as they push the limits of visual art at our spectacular annual Rock the Garden event, 5 Hour Sculpture: A Pop-Up Arts Festival.
You'll see large-scale participatory installations where visitors help create the artwork; fascinating performances "popping up" all over our historic property; and spectacular intrusions that push the limits of contemporary sculpture. There will also be dancing, live music, gourmet food trucks, and more!
Highlights of the evening will include: a field of poppy pinwheels; a 30-foot pop-up sculpture built and raised by festival-goers; tall tales around a virtual campfire; a dance enactment of the Fibonacci sequence; a large-scale labyrinth; a performance work exploring politics, place, identity, and African American myths; sound installations and artmaking events; a barn-raising-like activity; an animal-led political parade; a participatory rock sculpture based on the French lawn game of pétanque; and a ceremonial act of imagination envisioning a communion between humankind and nature.
YES, ALL OF THAT!
The festival is free to attend, with free parking and shuttle service from West Valley College. Very limited on-site parking is $10 for the evening, but if you arrive after 6pm, we recommend just using the shuttle service. For directions to West Valley, click here.

Last chance: Rick Springfield with The Romantics

Ride the 80s wave on Tuesday, July 12, at 7pm, with Grammy-winning pop rocker Rick Springfield, best known for his No. 1 single Jessies Girl and other Top 10 hits like Affair of the Heart and Dont Talk to Strangers.
Springfield is joined by The Romantics, the British-Invasion inspired band behind the timeless track, What I Like About You. These power pop icons take the stage at Montalvo's beautiful outdoor Lilian Fontaine Garden Theater for a show that will have you on your feet and dancing in the aisles!
This concert will also be the debut of our Garden Terrace for concessions and beverage sales. You'll be amazed by this beautiful new area, which provides extra space to mingle and enjoy a glass of wine.
