Kathleen Henderson was born in 1963 and raised in Boston, Massachusetts.  She received her BFA from Boston University, and obtained an MFA from Queens College, Queens, New York.  She currently resides and works in Berkeley, California. 

Henderson’s work ranges from dense drawings in oil stick to mixed media sculpture.  Her work has been described as “oscillating between fascination and apprehension” and her drawings as
“searing and tough”.

Henderson’s work has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions at the Rosamund-Felsen Gallery in Santa Monica, California where she is represented, including those held in 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014.  She has also exhibited at the Paule Anglim Gallery in San Francisco, California in 2012; the Drawing Center in New York, New York in 2008; the Ashby Stage in Berkeley, California in 2005; and the Stephen Wirtz Gallery in San Francisco, California in 2002.

Her works are included in the permanent collections of the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, California as well as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Henderson is a National Endowment for the Arts recipient, and has been in residence at: Montalvo’s Lucas Artists Residency Program in 2009; Creative Growth in Oakland, California in 2009 and 2012; and the Oxbow School in Napa, California in 2009.
