MICHAEL GAMBLE

Gamble is an adventurous guitarist and multi-instrumentalist whose work integrates electronic modes of composition. His adept guitar prowess touches on the color schemes explored by Hendrix, McLaughlin, Frisell and so many others. Recently, he has been focusing on integrating a visual element into his solo shows via live projections. He has spent the last 15 years immersed in the creative jazz, experimental rock, and improvised music scene in New York City, while maintaining close ties to New Orleans, Burlington, Boston, San Francisco and, most recently, the Pacific Northwest. He has recorded over 20 albums and toured the Unites State, Canada, and Europe with his critically-acclaimed guitar trio The Inbetweens, Counter Record’s Cougar, and alongside doom-metal originators, Earth. More recent collaborators include prestigious drummer/composer Bobby Previte, composer/bassist Todd Sickafoose, guitar virtuoso Nels Cline, and PNW cellist Lori Goldston. While in Brooklyn (2002-2013) Gamble ran4playBar4; a weekly creative music series that featured a slew of New York’s creative improvisers. Since relocating to Portland, Gamble has started a monthly audio/visual series featuring local and touring artists. In addition to working on soundtracks, web-series, and branded content for small businesses, Gamble currently teaches Audio Production at Oregon State University. Read more at mikegamble.tumblr.com.
