Inspired by Montalvo’s centennial, this unconventional timeline exhibition examines such questions as what does it mean to create a history of a place? What makes something historical? Can art practice contest established historical narratives and generate new unexpected interpretations of place?
This series of free events inspired by Montalvo's history takes place over the spring of 2012 and incorporates our diverse history as a historical site, an educational institution, an arts center, and a performance space. Each is designed to expand on the archival material presented in the timeline exhibition in the Project Space Gallery, O' Great Reverie: Montalvo 1912-2012.
