GREAT LAWN BORDER GARDEN

This large area that runs the south-eastern length of the Great Lawn is home to abundant established trees and shrubs as well as many new plantings.

A number of new young trees are dotted along this area. Among these are a Hong Kong Orchid Tree (Bauhinia x blakeana), a very rare specimen of the Wollemi Pine (Wollemia nobilis), and three Lavender Trumpet Trees, sometimes called by the name Pau d'Arco (Handroanthus impetiginosus). The bark of the Pau d'Arco is used worldwide for various complaints.

The funds to plant the young trees were provided by a generous donation from NetApp.  Also providing volunteer labor for the tree planting, NetApp's gift to Montalvo will continue to grow and be appreciated for many decades.
