Kevan Jenson works primarily as a painter, featuring smoke as a medium. He is focusing on the resonance between his smoke paintings and the climate crisis from burning fossil fuels. Much like JMW Turner whose atmospheric abstractions came out of the beginning of the industrial age, Kevan is investigating new imaginings and new images to bring forth new psychological adaptations related to the post-industrial age. In a word, Kevan sees his work as “Eco-Psychedelia”—a complex reassessment of beauty and loss akin to a psychedelic healing ritual for an ever stranger world.
