Meet Our Summer Camp Instructor

James Green

James Green has been teaching art in the South Bay for 20 years for all skill levels and all ages, from 4 to 70+. He leads classes at community centers in Santa Clara and Campbell, and at his private studio. As a beloved summer camp instructor at Montalvo, James brings his two decades of experience to young artists through an engaging and supportive approach. He guides students in exploring traditional and contemporary painting techniques, including color mixing, composition, texture creation, and capturing light and shadow, all while drawing inspiration from Montalvo’s beautiful gardens and natural surroundings. James’ teaching philosophy centers on promoting self-confidence and nurturing each student’s imagination, helping budding artists discover the creative potential that is just under the surface, waiting to stir. He is also a founding member of the Gathering Artisans Collective, a family-owned and operated, online creative community marketplace.
