Daniel Lanois

Daniel Lanois is a producer, songwriter, and sonic explorer whose fingerprints run through decades of modern music. Raised in Hull, Quebec in a family-and-community music culture, he absorbed roots traditions alongside Motown, R&B, rock’n’roll, and psychedelia. He built a reputation early as a musician-minded studio craftsperson, which eventually led to formative work with Brian Eno on the Ambient series, where the “studio as instrument” approach helped define an era of atmospheric, texture-driven recording.

That same restless, experimental spirit has shaped Lanois’ landmark collaborations with major artists, including Bob Dylan, U2, and Peter Gabriel.
