Briana Marela Lizárraga

Briana Marela Lizárraga is a Peruvian American composer, vocalist, and performing artist based in Oakland, California. Her recent music centers electroacoustic voice, live electronics, and technology embodied through gesture and enhanced objects. Her gestural and lyrical song performances add magical elements to an otherwise real-world setting to create a dream space where the surreal co-exists with reality. She draws from elements of both experimental electronic music and vocal driven pop music. Using a visual programming language and machine learning, she is able to make custom tools to create compositions with varying fixed elements that transition into moments of improvisation.
