Born in Germany and raised in Italy, today Claudia Borgna bases her art practice in London though she leads a nomadic lifestyle with exhibitions and residencies across Europe, Mexico, Canada, and the USA. Her outdoor installations of recycled plastic bags investigate the “evolution of landscape,” a process started and affected by global modernity and consumerism. Borgna has received the Joan Mitchell Grant, Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner Grant, Royal British Society of Sculptors Bursary Award, Pritzker Foundation Endowed Fellowship Award, she was voted The Public Speaks Winner for the Broomhill National Sculpture Prize (UK), and she was shortlisted for the British Women Artist’s Prize in 2010.
