Jamie Drew is Chief of Staff and Program Director for the Breakthrough
Initiatives. Prior to his current role, Drew worked at the NASA Ames Research
Center in the Mission Design Division on Nanosat technologies. This included
work on the Technical Education Satellite (TechEdSat) and Sub-Orbital Aerodynamic Re-entry Experiments
(SOAREX). He also served as an International Relations lead for public-private
partnerships in the Office of the Center Director, as well as a Science Manager
for the Chief Scientist. Drew’s technical research interests are in miniature
interplanetary-interstellar spacecraft, situ
resource utilization, electric aviation, remotely piloted aerial systems, and submersibles. Non-technical
interests lie in international relations, policy, documentary film,
design, and philosophical questions pertaining to the survival of the human
species.
