Kasim Abid is a cameraman, director and producer of Iraqi origin. He was educated in Iraq (Institute of Arts) and Russia (Moscow Film Institute, VGIK), and lives in London since 1982.

Kasim Abid produced and directed “Amid the alien corn” in 1991 which was screened to great reviews on Britain’s leading domestic TV Channel 4.  “Naji al-Ali – an artist with vision” – a powerful documentary on the life and work of assassinated Palestinian artist Naji Al-Ali brought him critical acclaim 1999. His latest film “Surda check point” was filmed while teaching film and TV production in Palestine at Birzeit University. In 2003, in co-operation with his colleagues, Kasim founded an Independent Film and TV College in Baghdad, where he conducts media training for young Iraqi film-makers. In March 2005, Kasim Abid was awarded the 2005 Award for Excellence in Arts by the British “The Muslim News” newspaper.
