Sandip Pisalkar (b.1978) is a young sculptor and multimedia artist. In Pisalkar’s work culture-specific objects forgotten historic significance, are re-presented within a different context, “re-mixed” and integrated into our contemporary lives. He says, “I look at objects of historical importance with an eye of interrogation.”

Pisalkar has completed his GD in Sculpture from the Sir J.J.School of Art, Mumbai and finished post-diploma in Creative Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S.University of Baroda. He has to his credit several awards including the Bombay Art Society Award (2006) and the International Danfoss Art Award (Denmark, 2008). As a young and upcoming artist he was invited to be a part of the Khoj PEERS Residency (New Delhi 2008). He has exhibited in several shows across India including Filament at Vadehra Art Gallery (New Delhi, 2008), the Bodhi Art Award show (Mumbai 2008) and at Project 88 Art Gallery (MUMBAI, 2008).
