Takayuki
Kubota was born in a port city when Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers were still
alive.

Kubota
works across a variety of media, from painting to video, installation and
writing. Kubota often incorporates notions of history (that he knows and
doesn’t know) and memory (that he has and doesn’t have yet). Kubota is
currently working on three interrelated projects: New Port, Chain
Reaction (tentative)
Landowska Keene, New York, 1941(tentative),
and Queens (tentative). Each investigation incorporates the history
of different places and time periods using diverse figures from the last
century, which he has been trying to say goodbye to.

Kubota
divides his time between New York and Tokyo. He has shown at limArt,
Tokyo; The Laundromat Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; Airplane, Brooklyn, NY; and
Thierry Goldberg Projects, New York, NY.
