Tarfia Faizullah was born in 1980 in Brooklyn, New York and
raised in Midland, Texas. She is the author of Seam (SIU 2014). Her poems have been published widely in
periodicals and anthologies both in the United States and abroad. Her poems
have been translated into Persian, Chinese, Bengali, and Spanish. In 2016, she
was recognized by Harvard Law School as one of 50 Women Inspiring Change.
Tarfia co-directs the Organic Weapon Arts Chapbook Press and Video Series with
Jamaal May. She currently teaches at the University of Michigan as the Nicholas
Delbanco Visiting Professor in Poetry. Her spirit animal is a baby panda.
