Vieux Aliou Cissokho

Born in Ziguinchor in Southern Senegal, Vieux Cissokho is a Griot man carrying the lineage of his kinsfolk, whose music and stories are passed through the generations from father to son. Destined to be a kora player, he was raised to the sounds of song, story and his beautiful lute-like instrument, which cannot be taught but is passed on through a traditional apprenticeship approach. Today, Vieux carries the lineage of his musical ancestors and shares it through live performance, which expresses the raw beauty of where he’s from, the passion of the human expression, and the rich beauty of life. Vieux is a seasoned musician and composer, sharing the music that lives in his soul.
