Xico Greenwald (b. 1977, Washington, D.C.) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. In his paintings and sculpture Xico explores the most basic elements of nature through a perceptual process that eschews mannerism in favor of a more personal approach to understanding form. He has participated in numerous exhibits, including ‘Lineage 7’ at M3 Gallery, Piermont, NY, ‘Portraiture’ at Diamantina Gallery, Brooklyn, NY, and ‘Painting’ at PSii in Long Island City, NY. Xico received his BA from Bard College in 2000 and his MFA from Brooklyn College in 2007. He was awarded the Ellen Battell Stoeckel Fellowship to attend Yale Summer School of Music and Art in Norfolk, CT. and more recently he was awarded the Peter Agostini Sculpture Prize from the New York Studio School and The Cerf Award from Brooklyn College. From 2003 till 2006, Xico taught painting and sculpture for the Catskill Mountain Foundation. He currently teaches art at the Borough of Manhattan Community College.
