Whatever your skills, interest, or time availability, chances are there is a volunteer opportunity just right for you at Montalvo!
Montalvo hosts events and programs year-round, many on evenings and weekends. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to meet new friends, build professional relationships, and have fun while contributing to your community. In addition, volunteers receive various awards and recognition throughout the year, as well as discounts on select purchases at events. Most importantly, however, you will have the satisfaction that comes with supporting Montalvo in its mission to support the arts in Silicon Valley.

Montalvo Service Group
Join to help with important fundraising and volunteering efforts.
The Montalvo Service Group (MSG) is the auxiliary that has supported Montalvo Arts Center, in Saratoga, since 1954. MSG’s fund-raising and volunteer service hours have made invaluable contributions to the upkeep of Montalvo Arts Center and its educational programs.
MSG fundraising events:
- Mad Hatter’s Tea – held in the spring each year: dress in your finest hats for a fabulous, Wonderland-themed tea party.
- Summer Luncheons on the Villa’s Veranda – our guests enjoy the beautiful setting and delicious food each Wednesday in the months August and September.
- See the Villa in her holiday splendor at the Yuletide Boutique.
Other MSG Activities:
- As Education and Outreach volunteers, we greet and host elementary school age children on their field trips to see shows in the Carriage House Theatre.
- Gourmet Dinner Committee prepares and serves up a delightful dinner to the lucky Donation Drawing winner for up to 10 people. Drawings are held 3-4 times per year.
- Hiking: explore the Art Center’s 175 acres with hiking trails, and the surrounding neighborhood.
- Make jams: delicious preserves are made from seasonal fruits.
- Luncheons with guest speakers.
- Membership Teas and Luncheons sponsored by our Board and members.
- Sewing Group: meets weekly; made boutique items are sold during the Summer Luncheons and at the Yuletide Boutique.
- Social meet ups and field trips.

How to join the Montalvo Service Group:
At the beginning of each year, we open up to new volunteers interested in becoming members. There are many Members-Only social events and meetings with guest speakers, where luncheons follow. This is a place where enduring friendships are made and the time spent at Montalvo has a special magic.

Group Volunteering
Volunteer as a team!
Montalvo can host groups of almost any size to assist with projects around the grounds. We have hosted corporate groups, church groups, school groups and a variety of philanthropy groups.
Each volunteer experience is custom-tailored to fit the size of your group, their interests and skill set, and the time desired. We have had volunteer teams help with everything from trail clean-ups, grounds repair and yard work, small construction projects, painting, and more. Each team will be matched with Montalvo staff to provide clear instructions and training, a brief history and tour of Montalvo, and a place for breaks and/or lunch on the grounds as appropriate. We can even guide you to a wonderful hike to end your volunteer experience!
