My heart is still overflowing with joy from earlier this year, when I had the absolute blessing of getting married at Montalvo to my partner of 15 years, Todd, with our six children in attendance as well as our family and friends.
I know many people cannot imagine getting married at the place where they work, even if that place is as beautiful as Montalvo, but I couldn’t imagine not getting married here. I wanted to have this milestone celebration where I met Todd all those years ago—the very place, in fact, where we had our first date.
Montalvo has become an immeasurable blessing for me: a place that has nurtured me; a place that has brought me peace and joy; a place that has helped me to build this new family, as well as an amazing community of colleagues and patrons.
And I know Montalvo has done the same for so many of you.
You find peace in quiet morning hikes; happiness in family picnics surrounded by beautiful gardens; and community in likeminded art-, music-, and nature-lovers.
In this moment, I reflect on the number of people who have experienced joys, big and small, surrounded by Montalvo’s beauty, and how much of life has been celebrated on these grounds. I think about how lucky we are to have this special place.
I know I feel so blessed that Montalvo helped bring Todd and me together, and so blessed that this place has brought so many of you into my life, too.
With a heart full of love,
Angela
Nestled in the foothills of Silicon Valley, Montalvo Arts Center is 175 acres of pure inspiration. Serving the South Bay and beyond with a wide range of arts, education, and community programs, we are located within a stunning public park open daily from 8am–sunset for visits to our gardens, hiking trails, and outdoor artworks. I hope you’ll come and experience this beautiful place with your family and friends as you hike, explore the gardens, and see our collection of Art on the Grounds: What if we are each beautiful, even if we are strange? Our 2025 Marcus Exhibition, When the World is Beautifully Strange, showcases the work of twelve ceramic artists who intentionally draw us into their worlds with humor, play, and even strange motifs.
Summer is a magical time at Montalvo, and our busiest season yet. Montalvo’s annual fundraiser, The Art of Food & Wine (now in its 20th year!), returns on September 7—when the Villa transforms into a gourmet paradise for one day only, allowing you to sample the best of Northern California’s restaurants and wineries. We are also excited to announce the 3rd Annual Lowrider Art Showcase on October 5!
As we welcome the warmer weather, we also welcome new and returning visitors (you!) to bask in the sunshine and enjoy our beautiful grounds. From blossoming gardens to rousing concerts, to inspiring classes, and joyful community events, this is a place for you.
While you’re on our site, you can learn about Montalvo’s mission and vision, see all of our upcoming events, and dive into our inspiring Sally and Don Lucas Artists Residency Program. You can also join our fantastic community of Montalvo supporters by becoming a member.
